GLENWOOD’S Marc Gibbons is serious about baseball.

“The grand final against Hawkesbury was one of my best games,” he said.

In August he will head to St Louis to compete with the under-15 NSW Junior Baseball League side.

When he’s not playing, Marc is busy umpiring little league matches. “I like to do umpiring courses. If you pass, you’re allowed to umpire older grades,” he said.

“I can see myself umpiring in the future.”

Marc hopes to emulate St Louis Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday.

“I want to play in the major leagues with the Cardinals - I like him because of the way he plays the game.” His other accomplishments have included representing the under-12 NSW Junior Baseball League team in St Louis in 2011.

He has also been an Ozzie Austin medal nominee in the 2011-12 season. He works on pitching, fielding and fitness, and said: “Being able to not get tired is an important thing”.

Marc is this week’s Blacktown Advocate Junior Sports Star nominee.

The awards are proudly sponsored by Rebel Sport.
