2012 Pirates Winter Baseball Academy


Hi Pirates and welcome back for 2012. The weather has not been kind to us in the first couple of weeks back but hopefully we will start to see some play soon. If you're starting to think about winter sports and your kids would like to develop their baseball skills in the off-season, then we invite you participate in the Pirates Winter Baseball Academy. Open to players from U10's and upwards, the Academy is open to players from all Junior Ballclub’s If you are a currently registered Junior Baseball Player and want to improve your skill levels and train as elite elayers do, then this program is for you.

Open to all players of all skill levels

Age Groups

Age 10 (2012) through to Under 16/17 & U/18 Sydney Major League

Instruction is provided by dedicated Coaching Staff and Guest Instructors Current/Former Coaches and Players with firsthand experience from top leagues here and around the world. Clinics are held every Tuesday and Wednesday evening from April to August. Cost for the Academy course is $150.

2012 Junior Winter Baseball Season - register now

 

If your kids can't get enough of baseball, registrations are now open with the Pirates for the 2012 Hills Junior Winter Baseball season. The winter season commences in early May and is played on a Sunday morning so not to interfere with other winter sports. Cost for the season is $55.00.

Nominations open for NSW Junior Baseball League international tours

Junior player nominations are now open (closing 23 February), for players to participate in international tours across Japan, the USA and Europe later this year. Tours are available across:

  • U12/U13 age groups (DOB 2000/2001) to Japan (2 tours)
  • U15 players to St Louis in the USA
  • U16 players for a special tour to Europe

Hurry nominations close 23rd February 2012. Trials will commence on Sunday 26th February at Corbin Reserve.

 


Little League comes to Corbin

During the mid-season break, the Hills Little League season came to Corbin Reserve with composite teams made up of players across all Hills clubs.

Little League

During the tournament a number of junior Pirates played and also included umpire training for some of our U14's players who all up umpired over 20 games. With thanks to Turtle Landscape Supplies who were the sponsor for the tournament.

Around the Softball Diamond

Our softballers have had a great start to the 1st half of the season. I hope everyone has had a great holiday break and are eager to get back out on the diamond. Unfortunately Rnd 11 was washed out but fingers crossed the weather Gods are kind to us as we turn the corner into the home straight towards the finals with 4 more competition rounds left.

Below are the current standings.
U11 Mixed T Ball - 2nd place on 22 points
U13 Girls Div 1 - 1st place on 28 points
U13 Girls Div 2 - Equal 1st on 26 points
Jnr Boys - 4th place on 12 points
School Girls Div 2 - 2nd place on 25 points
B Grade Ladies - 2nd place on 25 points****
Mixed Div 2 - Equal 3rd plce on 23 points****
Mixed Div 3 - 1st place on 25 points

***** Well done to our B Grade ladies and Mixed div 2, both these teams were promoted to these grades in Rnd 7 and are competing well.

 

Softball Representative Trial Dates

Following is the trial dates for the U13 girls and boys and U15 Girls. I would strongly encourage any player who is keen to trial to attend. These sessions are very beneficial and even if you are unsuccessful in making the squad you will gain alot more skills and experience from the trial sessions. Nothing ventured nothing gained

U13 Girls and Boys - 15th February 2012 - 6.30pm Stanhope Gardens Softball Field
U15 Girls - 22nd February 2012 - 6.30pm Stanhope Gardens Softball Field
